April 6, 2015: Twitter announces Retweet with comment feature known as “Quote Tweet”

The ability to Retweet and share someone else’s tweet is not new. What is new is the ability to bypass the 140 character limit when adding your comments to a Retweet!

Quote Tweet
The new Retweet with comment feature known as “Quote Tweet” allows users to embed the original tweet and add an additional 140 character comment without having to shorten the original tweet.

Learn what Twitter has to say about “Quote Tweet”

Benefits of this new version:

  • Keep original tweet at full length with its context and meaning preserved
  • No need to copy+paste URL or text from original tweet

This feature is currently available on Twitter.com and the iPhone. It will be available on Android soon.

The previous post How to: RT and MT on Twitter shows options that may still be used but we recommend using this new “Quote Tweet” feature on Twitter when Retweeting.
